Palghar – Relentless heavy rainfall in Palghar district has escalated into a severe crisis, significantly disrupting normal life. The worst-affected areas include Dahanu and Talasari talukas, where several villages have been submerged due to continuous downpours.
🟡 Rivers Overflow, Flood Threat Intensifies
Major rivers in the district are flowing at or above danger levels, increasing the risk of flooding in low-lying and riverbank areas. Authorities have issued alerts in vulnerable villages and advised residents to remain cautious as water levels continue to rise.
🟡 Rescue Operations and Emergency Response
In response to the worsening situation, local authorities along with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) and disaster management teams have been deployed. Several residents from flood-affected villages have been safely evacuated to secure locations. Temporary relief camps have also been set up, providing food, drinking water, and basic medical aid.
🟡 Roads Submerged, Traffic Disrupted
Heavy rainfall has led to multiple roads being submerged, bringing transportation to a complete halt in several parts of the district. Long queues of vehicles have been reported as commuters wait for water levels to recede. In some areas, power supply disruptions have also been reported.
🟡 Weather Department Issues Warning
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had earlier issued an alert predicting heavy to very heavy rainfall in the region. Further intense rainfall is expected over the next 24–48 hours, raising concerns of worsening flood conditions.
🟡 Schools Closed, Public Advisory Issued
Considering the safety of citizens, the district administration has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges across Palghar. The District Collector has urged residents to avoid unnecessary travel and strictly follow official advisories.
