Mumbai : Amid Coldplay ticket controversy, Maharashtra’s Cyber Cell takes major steps to put a halt on black marketing. On Thursday, Maharashtra’s Cyber Cell chief takes some important steps to put a halt to the black marketing of tickets for these famous concerts where there is a large gathering and a heavy amount is paid for these tickets by the visitors.

Action Taken After Coldplay Concert Controversy

It takes a major action after the case of black marketing of tickets for the Coldplay concert; also, it has given some suggestions to Book My Show and Zomato. Also directed to that while selling each and every ticket, the buyer’s name should be printed on it to avoid black marketing and misinformation.

Cyber Cell Chief Explains the Reasoning

Yashasvi Yadav, Maharashtra’s Cyber Cell head, said, “Many people buy a large number of tickets during the big events. And then it appeared to be selling them with a lot of cost through other platforms and social media. So to avoid this, we have come up with a step for some transparency.”

New Measures to Prevent Black Marketing

“After we inquired about the matter of such cases. Later we called the officers of both the major ticket sites, Book My Show and Zomato, and instructed them to sell the ticket in the name of the buyer for these huge events where demand and supply are much higher,” Yadav further added.

Government ID Mandatory for Concert Attendance

The head of the Cyber Cell also mentioned the government identification for these concerts, stating, Anyone attending the event with that ticket will have to show the identity card given by the Government of India (Aadhaar card, PAN card, or driving license) as well to attend these events, and only if the name on the ticket and identity card matches will the person be able to get access to the program.

White Paper to Outline Technical Changes

Yadav further said, “Maharashtra Cyber will also issue a white paper in this regard in which all ticket platform operators have been made with information from the operator of the platform. This white paper will be in a legal format in which ticket sales and ticket platforms require what technical changes are required.”
